Our Spark Begins With The Light
We invite you to experience a candle that is more than just a fragrance – it’s a daily reminder of God’s goodness, love, and grace.

The heart behind the flame.
Welcome to Cullen House Candles! I’m Alexandra Cullen, founder and creator. Our mission is to create highly-fragranced, hand-poured, and non-toxic candles that are thoughtfully inspired by Scripture to share the good news of the kingdom of God.
I’ve always been captivated by the transformative power of fragrance and candles. With scent being my strongest sense, I often say that the first true sign that I’ve finally entered Heaven will be its divine aroma! Since I appreciate that candles have the unique ability to evoke specific feelings, I often found myself frustrated with mainstream candle options that lacked a meaningful spiritual foundation. This sparked my journey into candle-making, driven by a desire to create spiritual experiences that remind us of God’s love for us - the very love Jesus prayed the world would know when He said,“...that the world may know that You have sent me, and have loved them as You have loved me” (John 17:23 NKJV). This journey resulted in our line of unique, custom-blended candles inspired by our favorite Scriptures, liturgies, and worship songs from our home church in Colorado Springs, Black Forest Lutheran Church.
At Cullen House Candles, we’re dedicated to crafting our candles using only non-toxic, clean-burning ingredients. As a mother of a young child, I’m constantly conscious about providing safe and healthy spaces for our families. Therefore, all of our candles are made with a soy-coconut wax and free of parabens, petroleum byproducts, phthalates, lead, carcinogens, mutagens, and reproductive toxins. They’re also proudly California Prop 65-compliant, ensuring they meet some of the strictest safety standards in the country.
It is a privilege to share these candles with you, and we hope you find as much joy and connection in these fragrances as we have found in creating them! “For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved…” (2 Corinthians 2:15 NKJV).
A special thanks to my husband, Eugene, Lauren, and my Black Forest Lutheran Church community - especially Melanie, Lisa, Andrea, and Nicole - for your inspiration, thoughtful encouragement, and constant support. And all thanks be to God, the source of all creativity and the spark of every idea.
